This past week the second version of the Bing Maps Taxi Fare Calculator App was released. This new version includes several new features and some bug fixes. The new features include:

Enhanced Navigation -> City and country drop downs are now available rather than a single drop down thus making it easier to find the city you are looking for. In addition there are several new features that align with the features in the driving directions panel.

Local Taxi companies -> We have added the ability to return local taxi companies based on where users search. This will allow users to not only determine the estimated cost for their journey but to also find information for a taxi company that can take them on the journey. At this time we are still building up our database of taxi companies and as such this feature is only available in some cities. If you are a taxi company and would like to appear in the results as a local taxi company for a particular city send us an email at info@inknowledge.co.uk for more information.

Book Now -> We have teamed up with our partner CatchACab.com to add in the ability to book a taxi, mini-cab, private hire, or limo from within the taxi fare calculator. This again will help save time and money. Currently this is only available in London, UK. However we plan to expand this functionality through out the UK and the rest of the world in the coming months.

In other Taxi Fare Calculator news we have plans to launch a Windows Phone 7 app in mid-November that will tie into the same web service used by the Bing Maps Taxi Fare Calculator. At this time our plans are to make this a freely accessible app although some advertisements may be included to offset our costs.
